What makes these Osaka Castle tours different?

Each tour is built around primary sources, archaeological evidence, and on‑site analysis. Instead of repeating textbook summaries, the tours reveal the political, religious, and military forces that shaped Osaka Castle across fifteen centuries.

Who leads the tours?

All tours are led by Edward Iftody, a historian who lives beside Osaka Castle and specializes in the site’s layered past — from ancient capitals to warrior monks to the Toyotomi and Tokugawa eras.

How many tours are available?

There are three small‑group walking tours, each focused on a different era and storyline: early Japan, the Sengoku Period, and the fall of the Toyotomi family. All tours start in Tanimachi and cover less than one kilometer.
